I do love the snow

It has been six weeks since the temp has gotten over 30 degrees. We got our first snow that stayed on the ground the first week of October. I know, I know. It's Alaska. But even by our standards that was a bit early.

And it has only spit snow here and there since. So it looks a lot like break-up in the spring...without the sun. Patchy ice on roads and parking lots. Dirty banks of snow with frozen ground protruding. Wasted studded tires.

This afternoon it started falling. First like a mist. Then the big, fat flakes. It has been snowing for hours and is supposed to snow through the night.

It is beautiful. Pristine. Quiet. Clean. Whole. New. Possible. It's like the whole world gets to start over, slowly and intentionally.

Off to Spanish class...carefully.
