Summer is over. 40s at night, the sun is setting around 8:30 pm, and it is actually getting dark at night. Last night I watched a lopsided-almost-full moon throw a shimmering v-stripe across the ocean. There was even a whisper of Northern Lights across the azure blue sky.
We’ve had the Mercedes convertible for sale all summer. Nibbles but no bites. I showed it last week and then started packing it for a (long) road trip. Snacks, travel books, etc. Low and behold. He wanted it. Sold. Sweet. We are back on schedule to leave Sept 28/29 via the big shiny bird in the sky.
I. Have. Painted. The. Entire. Interior. Yahoo! Now I get to start sealing the exterior…
Before Greg left on his caribou hunt, he made sure that my fabulous, indoor, over-sized bathtub was functional. Love it. Even more than the hot tub.
So much little stuff. All light fixtures in and working. All switches and outlets in and working. Found a couple of how-did-that-happen boo-boos that had to be fixed. Moved a light. Moved a switch. Yuck—what a mess to fix/correct. Closet rods in. Closet shelves built. Hung towel rings. Scraped & washed windows (inside). Made & hung shelves in kitchen for cookbooks. Master bathroom sinks/faucets in.
Oh, that was a funny. Greg finished installing the hot water heater and water pressure tank. Turned on the handle…and every sink hose was wide open! We had water spewing EVERYWHERE. And to add insult to injury, rather than just turning off the flow at the main handle, we were running from room to room turning off each hose handle while we (and kitchen and baths) got soaked.
August was the second wettest month since 2004. Over 5 inches of rain. That made it difficult to side the exterior. Greg worked solo on the back of the house (often in nasty wind and rain). Now that I’ve finished painting, I’m helping. This weekend we got up side two. That is a “must finish” and get sealed before we leave—in a couple of weeks!
Promise to post more pictures next week. Please be patient.
