Sigh

Yes, that was me ugly crying through Atlanta airport Tuesday morning. After five years living with Greg & me, my dad has decided to permanently relocate back to Texas to an independent living facility. I will always treasure the memories and moments we have shared. Saying goodbye was hard.

Met Greg at another gate to begin our next adventure. Time to regroup/reset to being just a couple again. That sounds like fun. So. Can I simultaneously be sad to tears AND excited about our future? Absolutely. Feeling it all big and out loud. It’s not pretty, but it’s real.

Ah, Aruba sounds like just about right. The northwestern part of the island is predominantly the “tourist” area. Our apartment is enough on the edge of the high rise hotels area that it feels a little like it’s off-the-beaten-path, while still being centrally located to lot of good snorkeling. First full day we got a feel for the island by circumnavigating it. South side had rocky beaches, cacti (some blooming!) a pet cemetery that stretched for miles, and donkeys. Skirted the Arikok National Park and decided it was too dang hot to hike. East side we saw Ayo rock formation (with goats!) Natural Bridge, and the Bushiribaria Ruins. On the northern tip we saw the California lighthouse and called it a day.

The next four days were: sleeping in, reading, eating well, snorkeling. On repeat. Tomorrow we get on a puddle jumper to CuraƧao. More island time in store. Pics here
