Miller Time

My good friends, Tom and Caroline Miller, followed me home after the wedding. We have had a rather dreary summer--not much sun or warmth, lots of clouds and cool. Fortunately for them, the week they were here was the the sunniest and warmest, summer 2008.

On Tuesday they drove to Talkeetna via Hatcher Pass to see Denali. Wednesday they went to Seward. Saw a black bear on the trail to Exit Glacier. Took the Kenai Fjords full day cruise and saw the usual: popoises, sea lions, sea otters, eagles, puffins. Their bonuses were they saw a glacier calve, a pod of Orcas AND a humpback breach! I haven't seen a humpback breach yet! Thursday they walked on Matanuska Glacier and Friday we headed for Homer.

Saturday we kayaked
in Kachemak
Bay to Elephant Rock.

This sea otter let us get exceptionally close...

Early (yep, that's a sunrise) Sunday we took a halibut charter.

We fished and caught and played and still got back to Anchorage in time for them to catch their flight.

It is such a very good, great thing to know people for years and years and years (20 now?) and share much life.
