San Fran

When I learned my niece was getting married in San Francisco in January, I must admit that I wondered aloud to many--what was she thinking? Have you ever been to San Fran? In January? The average temperature is 48 with 86% humidity in the mornings and 68% humidity in the evenings. That means it is foggy or rainy much of the time.

In Anchorage last week the temp went from -10 to warm enough to snow (20s) to above freezing within 24 hours. And then it got ugly. All that snow started melting and precipitation started falling as rain. Overnight it froze enough that streets, highways, all flat services, became like one solid ice rink. I took Grace to the kennel in Wassilla and counted 28 (mostly trucks) either plowed into snowbanks or flipped on the side of the road. As I headed to the airport, I heard that all schools were closed for what would be the first of three days.

After a short layover in Seattle headed to the Frisco Bay. Clear and 70 every day. It was fun running around with mom and dad, doing a little sight-seeing (GGB, Sausalito, Muir Woods, Coit tower, Fisherman's Warf), pre-celebrations, enjoying Laura Jean and Dave's company, wedding and reception. OMG, don't miss the video of my 80 year old parents twisting! All in all a great mini-vacation.

I came back to more slip sliding. A winter cold. 4 days spent in an Employment Law Seminar taught with facilitator, magic marker and easel. Bah.

I'm glad Natalie got married in San Francisco in January. So much optimism in that statement.
