Cullera

Next morning we took Pam to the airport and headed out of town. Decided to head back to the coast and spend the night on the Mediterranean one last time. Drove through Valencia. Noted some interesting architecture. The Mediterranean beckoned. We stopped at a nature park to put our toes in the sand. Talked about walking along the beach but decided to find a hotel and walk there. Good plan. When we arrived back at our car Greg noticed driver’s side front side window had been bashed. Looked around. Guy in car parked next to us pointed to a car driving away. That had stopped. We decided to just drive away.

Hind site realized that the guy in car next to ours was probably the “look out”. Think he was baiting Greg to go after the other car on foot so he could finish the job. Lesson learned. Never, ever leave purse in car when traveling…even for a few minute stop. Our passports, money, credit cards could have been gone—poof—just like that.

Stopped at next community we came to, Cullera. High-rise condos and hotels lined the beach. Interestingly, everything was closed. All the condos were vacant. Happened upon a small boutique hotel, El Chalet, that was open and had a vacancy and took that stroll on the deserted beach.

A lovely end to rather traumatic day. Dressed for dinner and went to the city center for an unmemorable meal. Kept the window cracked and listened to the surf as we drifted to sleep.
