Week 7

Originally we were not going to put in a whole house heating system. The plan was to put in a wood heater in the big room to take the chill off. Maybe a Toyo stove, too. I mean, we were only going to be here in the summer. Right? This has been the wettest, coolest June since before I moved here in 2006. So, we’ve decided to put in a gas furnace like the one Greg put in the Butte house. IF we ever want to come at Christmas or IF we ever decide to sell, we’ll be covered. While Greg is tracking down all the parts, I’m trying to figure out how we can still stay within original budget.

The roof is trussed, sheathed and tarpapered. Completely. So it feels like inside and outside and we can work even if it rains. Which it did early in the week. Not the misty, steady rain we usually get—a real gully washer downpour.

We have a little bit more plywood to put up on the ends and a few more wires to pull before all the electric is in. Keep posted for plumbing and insulation next week…or whenever I get back from jury duty in Anchorage!

Decided to take pictures inside so we have “before” and “after” shots of the individual rooms. This week’s pictures start here.
