Week 11

We interrupt house building with the following important service announcement: The reds are running (caught 42 in two days and still fishing)!

That means sockeyes are spawning up the Kenai River and dip netting became priority one for the weekend. Last Sunday/Monday we made a quick trip to Anchorage to bring back our freezer so it was a short work week.

But we still got plenty done. All picture windows in. Sliding glass doors in. All rough out plumbing and electrical done. Steps to back door built. Began working on ceiling insulation and vapor barrier. That means we could button it up and call it good for the summer then come back to finish it next year. We seriously thought about it (for about three minutes) but it’s a charge to be able to switch gears from framing to finishing.

In our spare time I’ve been planting a bit in containers in the “park” and fantasizing about the raised vegetable garden I’m going to plant next summer. Greg took and passed the Alaska required internet proficiency course for bow hunting. Still has to pass the target-based test to get his license so he can go caribou hunting in September. AND (and, and) we (finally) got the part for the hot tub so a good hot soaking for the tired muscles and bones is on the docket for every night. Because we can.
