Week 12

It was a week of more. More fishing. More insulating exterior walls (complete) and adding vapor barrier (complete except for laundry room). More insulating ceilings and adding vapor barrier.

Began sheetrocking…kitchen and master bedroom walls and ceilings up; big room back wall started. Had to move a window. Remember how we added the heater as an afterthought? It had to go somewhere, so we rearranged the guest bathroom and added the furnace closet. Just noticed this week that part of the window was going to end up in the closet. That wouldn’t do. The good news is that we hadn’t yet sheetrocked inside or sided outside, so it was a fairly painless move. You know what they say about building a house: it is all a function of time and money. It just cost us a little of both.

Appliances delivered. Beautiful special-order stainless fridge had a nice, square dent on the front of the right-hand door. Sigh. Returned and re-ordered with hopes the new one will be here before we leave in September. Our kitchen cabinet man stopped by and is ready when we are.

Greg and I FINALLY agreed on a tile for our bathroom. Who would’ve thought THAT would be so hard? Am beginning to get a good idea about what I want the finished product to look like…walls, floor, lighting, etc. Soon (very soon, is my mantra) we get to start making that happen.

This was also the week that we started making a list of what will NOT get done this summer. We are pretty much in budget but are running out of time. Next year projects will probably include: finish trimwork (including around windows and baseboards), furnace operational, wood stove installed, built-in bookshelves in office, deck, garage. Oh, my…

A couple of pictures.
