We spent a delightful week of Summer Camp with Taylor, and then I went on strike. Or ran away. Or abandoned ship. Or went AWOL. However you want to view it. Kudos to all involved who were complicit with my temporary hiatus. I miss fresh tomatoes. I don’t miss chiggers.
I DID finish mudding and sanding my floor-to-five-feet-up before I left. Returned to find that Greg had finished mudding and sanding everything else (including ceilings). He and Mik then textured the whole house. That meant it was time for me to begin painting. Just call me the painting queen. Am in process of priming every interior inch…walls AND ceilings. And then I’ll paint. Glad we worked on building the arm muscles earlier. So far, so good. While I paint, Greg is siding the outside. LOVE the siding we chose.
We have picked out carpet multiple times. First at Lowes. Then tried to beat by going directly to the supplier in North Georgia. Shipping to Alaska made that an unlikely option. Then a local carpet dealer. Our Kenai Lowes closed—thank goodness we had taken delivery of our last special order. Tried Home Depot. Tried another local dealer. Waiting for last quote before we say, do it!
It is at this point that budget seems to, well, not be as important. We just want to get it done. So, the carpet is more than we expected. So, we refused the alder custom cabinet fronts (they were that bad) and re-ordered cherry. It looks like we may be staying into October to make sure we are pleased with the end product(s). Geesh.
Found my bear spray so Grace and I resumed walking. Taking Greg along for added protection.
K. Am at the library and just realized that I left my camera at home which means I have a choice: post the pictures I downloaded earlier now or wait to post everything (including most-recent-but-not-yet-downloaded pictures) next chance I get. I’m voting for what I've got now. Next week there will be extra ;-)
