Drove until we were (getting) hungry and tired. Stopped in a quaint village, Alissio, on the coast/Italian Riviera. Got a hotel room on the beach. Opened door and shutters to step out onto a balcony 50 feet from the surf.
Leisurely breakfast and walk on the beach. Wifi update while Greg explored the town then on to Monaco. Talk about high dollar real estate! We passed all the latest designer labels' shops on our way to Monte Carlo, the most exclusive casino in the world. First dozen cars out the front door cost half a million each. Greg's game of choice is blackjack. It was mid afternoon, high stakes, and only one table with a dealer who was way too hot to challenge. So we opted to head back east on the coast and check out San Remo, Italy's answer to Monte Carlo. Not. Greg only found slots. Told me I owed him a trip to Vegas, checked those sites off the list, and headed on to our next adventure.
Enjoyed coastal vistas till the sun set. Our good luck with finding the perfect place at the last minute ran out. Most of the condos and hotels along the beach are shuttered for the season. About 8 finally checked into another hotel by the sea...only this one had a road between. Opened the windows for a breeze and listened to scooters and emotional Italians in passionate conversation throughout the night.
Lazy Sunday drive to Tuscany agriturismo. Will be here for 5 nights while we explore the area.
