Wallabies!

Stormy day. Between downpours we went into town to book Saturday's gigs out of Port Douglas and hiked up to Crystal Cascades. Another waterfall, bunch of boulder rocks, rainforest, gently flowing water. Back at the house we rested, played cards, and read.
New day dawned full of sunshine so we were off. Again. Headed north to Kuranda. Barron Falls is supposed to be some kind of spectacular water fall in the wet season. Hiked to the overlook. Not yet. Back into town to do a (wee) bit of shopping. Found an aboriginal original painting for the "international" wall in our bedroom in Murphy. Couple of gifts then westward to Mareeba, more specifically Granite Gorge Nature Park. I read they had endangered rock wallabies that you could feed. Oh. Did. We.

Yes, they have claws, but they GENTLY gripped our hands until we got more food out for them. Too much fun. Then we decided to go on a bushwalk--chose the more difficult "red" Boulder trail. A bit challenging since it was 96 in the shade and I thought Greg was bringing the water and he thought I was bringing the water! Had to climb in, among, over boulders the size of small buildings but guess what we saw about half way? Dinosaur footprints. Unexpected. Way. Cool.

Before heading home went to Ellis Beach for a quick swim. On the way home some movement caught Greg's eye. We turned around to see what it was. Whaaaa? A field of wallabies! What a day!
