Spent several hours at Buffalo Bill Cody Historical Center in Cody. I mused that the last time I was there I had young children, we were with the Aldermans (Westward Ho!) and we were on a tight schedule; in and out in an hour. This time we took our time. Greg must’ve spent a couple of hours in the Firearms Museum alone. (Matt, he sorely missed your company there.) I especially enjoyed the Whitney Museum of fine art. As usual, the sculpture captured my eye and imagination.
When we left Yellowstone on Sunday evening it was 30 degrees and snowing. When we arrived again on Tuesday it was 75 degrees with blue skies. Before we were out of the park on Wednesday, we had experienced a gully washer thunder/lightening storm (woke us up) and a hail storm. Geesh.
Feel like we “did” Yellowstone. Read that 99% of visitors never get more than a mile off the main road so we had to be included in the 1% that did. Took a couple of hikes—Norris Basin and Upper Basin and were rewarded with lots of steaming holes, bubbling pools and geysers gushing. Lots of pictures but I promise I threw away 3-4 times as many ;-)
After living in Alaska for four years, the Grand Tetons were nice but did not take my breath away the way they did 15 years ago. Slept at Sandy Lake Reservoir out in the middle of nowhere Wyoming. Drove to and through Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Hiked to Fish Creek Falls—upper view and lower access. On to Sulphur Hot Springs where we soaked and decided to call it a night.
Been on the road for a couple of weeks now. 4500+ miles. Finally got to put on short sleeves.
New pictures start here
